Busy, Busy, Busy!

April has been a very busy month is this home!  Early in the month the boys and I went to my dad's for Easter (Jerry was sick).  Jerry went to Alabama for a week for work training in mid April.  Then my mom came for a visit from Montana for a week and a half.  We had a good visit with her, and we were able to take her many places that we enjoy here.  Mom also watched the boys overnight for us so we could spend the night in Avila beach.  We had massages and a nice dinner together!  Thank you mom!!!
(Unfortunately we all had the flu in April too...we still had a lot of fun though!)
Here are a few pictures from April...

Easter

The boys and I went to my dad's house for Easter.  Jerry was under the weather, so we let him take care of himself while we head out of town for the weekend.  Nathan took a tumble and busted his nose a bit just before dying eggs on Saturday.  I was very thankful that he didn't get black eyes from the fall!  Both of my little guys had lots of fun dying eggs and then hunting for treats on Easter.

Hmm, can I drink this?

Too Tired...

Jerry left today for Alabama.  Griffin continues to cut teeth and pretty much only wants Mommy to hold him.  The boys and I went to Home Depot this morning to look for some fix-its for an activity table we purchased. (I was misled by the woman who sold it to us off Craig's List)  And this afternoon we had some craft time; construction paper, glue, and sequins=FUN! (and glue on Griffin's head)
I'm pretty tired now, so it is time for me to rest!

Pedicure

Mommy got a pedicure!  There is no doubt that I enjoy being with my little loves....however, it was nice to get away for an hour and have someone else paint my little piggies!  I was about to do them myself, but thought better of that idea.  Jerry will be leaving for a week on Sunday to Alabama, so I figured now was the time.
Maybe next time a massage?!......

Planting...

We planted most of the garden today. It was VERY windy here today, so it was done as quickly as could be, while still trying to maintain some amount of order. There are still a few things that need to go in, but so far we have planted- 5 tomato plants (yes, a lot...but the nursery we went to had MANY varieties), tomatillo, strawberries, brussels sprouts, broccoli, zucchini, cucumbers, eggplant, and pumpkins. I am a little nervous we won't have the space needed for the pumpkins, but we started them from seed and I couldn't bare to get rid of them. We still need to plant our beans and peas... Hopefully in a few months we will need some recipe suggestions!

Garden...

So...the Phillips family is going to garden. This is something that we have attempted in the past (pre kiddos), but didn't so so well at. To our defense though, we planted in an area with very poor sunlight. We now have a yard with lots, and lots of sun. However, in the summer we will be having a lot of fog, so our fingers are crossed and we are wishing for the best.
I dug out an area about 12x12 3 weeks ago. It was definitely tough work, but enjoyable as well. We definitely couldn't dig a garden in mid-March in Montana! We set the borders and the soil last week...hope to plant this week. We went to a local nursery and got some starter plants today...we'll see how it goes.

Nathan is 3!

Goodbye "Terrible Twos"....
(they weren't so terrible, more of a learning experience for all involved)
Our Nathan Bear is now 3 years old! I'm sure we will be saying this as each birthday passes, but where does the time go? To celebrate Nathan's birthday this year we had a BBQ with family and neighbors. One of Nathan's favorite things right now is Toy Story. So, I made him a Toy Story themed cake. The best compliment is when I lifted him to show him the cake on our dining room table and he said, with a huge smile, "Thank You, Mommy!"
We have learned so much about ourselves over the past 3 years with Nathan as our first little boy. We continue to work on patience, but we NEVER forget how blessed we are!
